First published in 1893, After Death is one of the major works of Léon Denis, often regarded as one of Allan Kardec's leading successors.
Subtitled "An Exposition of the Doctrine of Spirits", the book seeks to answer humanity's greatest questions: What becomes of the soul after death? What is the meaning of existence? Where do we come from, and where are we going?
Léon Denis explores successive lives, the immortality of the soul, religions, the universe and God, earthly trials, spirit phenomena, magnetism, mediums, the afterlife, moral life, resignation in adversity, prayer, education and moral law.
Part philosophical essay, part spiritualist work and part moral reflection, After Death remains one of the major texts of French Spiritism and a profound meditation on human destiny.
