Published in 1977 by Stock, Fire is one of Serge Rezvani's most significant novels.
A devastating wildfire sweeps through the Maures hills before retreating toward the Mediterranean coast. Through this disaster, Rezvani reveals a Provence transformed by development, neglected landscapes and increasing pressure on the natural environment.
Part novel, part social observation and part ecological reflection, Fire now appears strikingly prophetic in its treatment of environmental issues that have become central concerns of our time.
